FIVE ARRESTED FOR DUI DURING WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT
(11/27/2006) NEW HAVEN – Patrol officers conducted both DUI enforcement patrols and sobriety checkpoints over the Thanksgiving Day weekend. The checkpoints were set up on Saturday night at Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Columbus Avenue, and then at College and George streets. Approximately 500 vehicles passed through the checkpoints.
Officers made three arrests for driving under the influence, issued seven infractions for operating without a license and two infractions for seat belt use, and issued one warning for headlights.
An additional two DUI arrests, and 37 other arrests, infractions, or warnings were issued by officers on patrol doing DUI enforcement.
New Haven police officers have made 301 arrests for driving under the influence in 2006.
